Explore Tarangire National Park

Why Visit Tarangire National Park?

Tarangire National Park is situated in northern Tanzania, just southeast of Lake Manyara and close to the Great Rift Valley escarpment.

It lies within the larger Masai Steppe ecosystem and is part of Tanzania’s renowned Northern Safari Circuit, making it a popular stop en route to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.

The park spans approximately 1,615 square miles (2,600 square kilometers), making it the sixth largest national park in Tanzania.

Its vast and varied landscape includes grasslands, swamps, riverine forests, and iconic baobab-dotted savannahs.

The park takes its name from the Tarangire River, which is the primary source of water for wildlife in the region, especially during the dry season

Wildlife and Attractions

Tarangire is famous for its large herds of elephants, especially seen during the dry season (June to October), when up to 3,000 elephants migrate here.

It is also home to an impressive variety of wildlife including lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, and over 550 bird species, making it a paradise for bird enthusiasts.
